Ginseng has been valued in Chinese medicine for more than two thousand years. It is known for its ability to:
- improve thinking or learning
- lower blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes
- remove fatigue
- stimulate activity of immune cells in the body
- enhance libido and copulatory performance
Yet, there are contradictions on its medical benefit.
Although it is considered to be relatively safe even in large amounts, certain types of Ginseng are extremely dangerous in large amounts, for example notoginseng. It is known to be deadly in doses over 10 grams.
It is suggested to consult doctors and pharmacists before consuming this herbal medicine.
