NASA found several plants that can absorb chemical substance in the air. These plants do it by opening up the pores on the surface of their leaves.
Here they are:
- Philodendron, Spider Plant and Golden Photos are good to absorb formaldehyde
- Peace Lily or Spathiphyllum can reduce benzene in the air
- Chinese Evergreen and Bamboo Palm, Gerbera Daisy and Chrysanthemum can help you reduce not only formaldehyde and benzene but also carbon monoxide
However, be careful if you have pets and kids at home. Philodendron and Golden Photos are poisonous. Put them in a position unreachable by your pets and kids. Make sure they don’t accidentally swallow these plants.
