More and more people, especially young people, have fallen deep into drug addiction. It is probably due to stressful life. However, in more cases, the really problem is in our neighbourhood and community. As part of community, it will be helpful if we also have some understanding in drug issue and its rehabilitation, so that we can help the people around us.
Basically there are several drug detox programs. The first one is the program employing both buprenorphine and methadone therapies to “sub out” less addicting opioids for drugs like hydrocodone, heroine, and oxycodone. Another one is called rapid opiate detox, in which patients are put under anesthesia and then kept in an emergency care unit as their bodies physically withdraw from the drug. A third method involves going “cold turkey”, in which people with prescription drug addiction simply quit taking their medications
While rate of successful drug detox has improved over the years, drug detox fail 90 percent to 95 percent of the time. It is because methods of detox focus on physical symptoms and ignore psychological elements.
The key to effective drug rehab is to understand what’s driving the abuse in the first place. Once drug detox is complete, the drug rehab should begin. Group therapy is a more popular rehab. However the more successful one is private drug rehab with an accent on psychodynamic thinking. Psychodynamic therapy is an addiction recovery program in which to find the origin of the addiction to be able to control it. Another program is that more people nowadays have begun enrolling in residential addiction recovery programs, with mixed success.
Thus, if you are exploring rehab for a friend or for yourself, make sure to investigate the why’s of addiction as well as the how’s.
