Spring has come and it’s time for you to take out all your sunglasses collection. It’s time to protect your eyes from the harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays.
Make sure that your sunglasses is with UV Coating. Polycarbonate lenses offer 99 percent UV protection. If on the labels written “UV protection up to 400nm,” it means 100 percent UV absorption. Never buy the one only saying “block UV” without stating how much.
Alhtough the UV coating itself is colorless, to add a fashionable look, you can choose the color below with some purposes:
- Green: offers some color contrast with little or no color distortion (best for multi-use)
- Gray: flat color offers no contrast, along with no color distortion
- Brown: offers very high contrast and depth perception, but it distorts color-optimum for object definition
- Yellow: optimum for object definition, but creates a harsh visible light
- Vermillion: best on water to define water from other objects, but has the worst color distortion
- Blue: best in snow because it counteracts the white, but distorts other colors
- Red and Pinks: best for computer eyestrain, but causes color distortion

You must have heard about this “new alternative” medicine.
Very basically, Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine needles, (sometimes in conjunction with electrical stimulus), on the body’s surface, in order to influence physiological functioning of the body. The first record of Acupuncture is found in the 4,700 year old Huang Di Nei Jing (Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine). [acupuncture.com]
If you decide to try this Asian origin medicine, there are some tips you can use to choose a good acupuncturist:
- Referrals - check out if your friends or relatives have any idea if the one you’re about to choose is a good one.
- Certificates - the acupuncturist must possess a certificate of course completion from an accredited institution
- Practice durations - pay attention on this one since it plays a role in the overall effectiveness of treatment
- Length of course - all accredited acupuncture training programs are at least 3 academic years in length
- Get to know you - in order to effectively restore balance and harmony in the body, they’d better get to know you before treating your condition
- Comfortable - it’s important so that you can reveal personal details about your health and in fact your life (including metal and emotional states).
- Answers - the acupunturist must have a strong will to answer all your questions in terms you can easily understand.
Dawn has tried her part. Her experience is good to read for you who consider trying acupuncture.

NASA found several plants that can absorb chemical substance in the air. These plants do it by opening up the pores on the surface of their leaves.
Here they are:
- Philodendron, Spider Plant and Golden Photos are good to absorb formaldehyde
- Peace Lily or Spathiphyllum can reduce benzene in the air
- Chinese Evergreen and Bamboo Palm, Gerbera Daisy and Chrysanthemum can help you reduce not only formaldehyde and benzene but also carbon monoxide
However, be careful if you have pets and kids at home. Philodendron and Golden Photos are poisonous. Put them in a position unreachable by your pets and kids. Make sure they don’t accidentally swallow these plants.
