Have You Visited the Dentist?

Just a friendly reminder.

I’ve just done it yesterday. A routine, at least twice a year.

Many people don’t care about going to the dentist. Yet, it’s terribly needed.

Well, you might say you brush your teeth everyday, twice or even three times. Yet, you’ll never know if you get this tiny little caries on one of your teeth until you check it out with the dentist. It gets bigger and bigger, and when you finally decide to visit your dentist, it’s too late, it hurts, and it has become extremely large.

Oops, I’m not trying to scare you here. I’m just trying to draw you a picture of what might happen.

This man, Michael, has also just visited his dentist. Such a smart move, Michael, especially with the Cavinator. ;)

This lovely mom is trying her best to save her children’s teeth. Well, I wish all mothers were like her, keep fighting for her children’s teeth’s health instead of just letting it be like that if their children say no to toothbrushing. Way to go, Mom!

Being Positive is the Cure

Have you ever noticed that sickness never stays long in your body while you’re busy and don’t really think about it? You keep doing your activuty as if you’re as fit and well as usual.

That’s because your brain tells your body that things are just fine and this calming warning makes you forget the sickness and be able to do all the task.

Mostly, moms are the ones who can do such thing. Their demanding kids, their messy home, plus their dirty laundry make them forget all the pain. Those things have to be taken care of and they manage to accomplish all.

That’s because they’r epositive that they can (or must) do it.

Actually, not only mothers can do so. Anybody can. What it takes is only POSITIVITY.

Any illness can be cured or at least lessened by being positive. Like what Thaleia’s husband did.

Praying and being positive, both will make anyone feel better.

Yummy Strawberry…

Yesterday, I went to a friend’s house, we were having a nice tea party with the other 4 girls.

It wasn’t the tea that was special, it was the cookies and cakes. They were all made of strawberry! Some pinky, some reddish…all yummy!

And, just now I’ve read some interesting blogs with strawberry pictures. Andrea with a full bowl of newly picked strawberries and M. Lynette DiPalma with her filled strawberries.

Wondering how many grams did they have the strawberries?

If they ate at least 100 grams, they’ve consumed 56.7 mg vitamin C, 17.7 mg folate, 166 mg potassium, 19 mg phosporus, 14 mg calcium.

I think, yesterday I had more than 100 grams. I even might have met my need of vitamins and minerals for a whole week now.

Simple Weight Loss Tips

Many people trying to lose weight failed the program only because they’re not patient enough. They keep checking the scale.

Try to stay away from your weight scale. It’s not that you can’t check your weight out at all. You can hide it somewhere, forget about it, then take it out every 2 weeks.

Also, don’t ever wish to get the result in such a short time.

That way, I bet you’ll reach the goal easily.

And, to praise yourself with the great result, take a picture once in a while. Just like this lovely lady. Look at her, she looks great. It took her years, but, she definitely looks good, now!

So, besides a strong will, what you need is a huge patience!

Bleeding Nose: What to Do?

First, don’t panic!

Then…

  • Calm yourself
  • Take a seat
  • Lean forward to drain the blood out of your nose instead of down the back of your throat
  • Keep your head above your heart as it can make your nose bleed less
  • Use your thumb and pointing finger to squeeze together the soft part of your nose
  • Keep holding your nose until the bleeding stops, at least 5 minutes, or more
  • Or place a cold compress or an ice pack across the bridge of your nose
  • If it finally stops, don’t bend or try to blow your nose, it might cause bleeding again

Is it dangerous? It might and might not.

Yet, it’s better to check it out with a doctor if it lasts more than 15 minutes or it happens regularly.

Sleep like a bear?

Ever wished to sleep for months like a bear?

Actually, sleep is magical and miraculous. It’s like a delicious meal, you’re hungry and you eat this delicious food, and then you feel not only full but satisfied. So, you go to bed with your body fully exhausted and the next day you wake up as fresh as the newly-picked-up strawberries.

Why would you need a good enough sleep?

While sleeping, you let your brain cells revive themselves, and rest tired muscles exhausted from a hectic day.

However, sleep is indeed a highly active state. Our brains are very active during sleep. The metabolism of the brain may increase by as much as 20 percent over the normal waking state.

So, it’s like you’re recharging your batteries.

Well, imagine how fully recharged you are if you sleep like a bear. ;)

Or, you might be one of those who has problem with sleeping? Can’t shut your eyes? Get the solution, now! It’s a bonus! :) Good luck!

The Confusing Contradictory of Alcohol Researches

Lately, people got confused by the contradiction of alcohol researches. As a conclusion of early studies held by the Australian Wine Research Institute, it’s found that

wine contains elements that are believed to reduce levels of bad cholesterol while boosting good cholesterol, thus reducing the risk of heart attack [Stuff.co.nz]

However, it’s also known that alcohol is dangerous for the liver because

alcohol metabolism permanently changes liver cell structure, which impairs the liver’s ability to metabolize fats. This explains why heavy drinkers tend to develop fatty livers [healthchecksystems.com]

It’s all your decision to choose whether to drink it or not. So, if you choose to do so, how to consume it wisely?

Well, only if you’re healthy, one drink per day (women) and two drinks (men) per day would be the maximum amount. However, it’s best if you take 2-3 days alcohol free in a week.
Why women’s consumption should be less than men? When entering the stomach, alcohol begins to break down with the dehydrogenase enzyme which reduces the amount of alcohol entering the blood by approximately 20%. Women produce less of the enzyme and as result, they get drunk easily than men.

Previously, I mentioned that you can enjoy alcohol only if you’re healthy. What kind of health anyway? I was referring to non-pregnant women, individuals not addicted to alcohol and not having any health problem.

To enjoy it wisely, try to sip each drink unhurriedly and with food, also consume plenty of water in between drinks.

IMPORTANT: Never drive while drunk!

Hm…let me also add something here…if you’re on a diet program, be careful! It might increase your appetite! ;)

PS: Just a reminder, please read below…some bodily organs you might harm if you consume alcohol unwisely…

organ disease
liver fatty liver, hepatitis
heart high blood pressure, stoke, heart disease
kidney kidney enlargement, kidney failure
