Ginny once wrote a piece about fasting entitled “It’s Just Not about Food.”
She’s right. According to what the Moslems believe, when they are fasting, it’s not only about giving up food and drink, it’s more like training their soul.
I have mentioned earlier that not only fasting can help their physical health but it also can help their mental health.
By fasting, Moslems are training the soul, learning self-restraint, self-control, and patience. This way, they learn to see life in a more peaceful way. It will end them up to reduce the risk of getting stressed out which will get them to become mentally healthy.
Briefly, just like in other religions, such as Christian or Jew, fasting is always positive in result.

It’s not what you might understand as dating or going out. It’s a kind of fruit consumed by Moslems during the fasting month–also known as palm fruits.
Why do they consume dates during Ramadhan or the fasting month? Because, not only can these fruits recompensate the loss in the level of blood sugar during the fasting period. But, they also are high in potassium, magnesium, niacin and fiber.
Even if you’re not fasting, consuming dates is good for your health.

Mouth ulcer is the loss or erosion of part of the delicate tissue that lines the inside of the mouth. The cause can be accidental biting of the cheek, burns from eating hot food, poor oral hygiene, irritation from strong antiseptics such as a mouthwash, oral thrush infection.
The symptoms of mouth ulcer are a round sore or sores inside the mouth, swollen skin around the sores, irritation of sores by salty, spicy or sour foods.
I’m so sorry knowing that you had it, SJ.
I remember having posted about mouth ulcer or Mark of Death, the way SJ called it. I wrote both how to treat it and how to prevent it.
FYI, I have just got it last month. It was a small one that dissapeared in less than two days. Yet, it was killing me! No wonder SJ called it Mark of Death.

Since you were a kid, you were told to brush your teeth regularly and consume enough calcium to make your teeth healthy.
But, actually, there is another way to help you avoid cavities in your teeth. Simply watch what you eat.
So, what should you eat to make your teeth healthy?
- Apples - Apples require chewing, which forces your teeth into stimulating action. The malic acid content cleanses the teeth. They help increasing saliva production, ‘wash away’ bacteria from your mouth and keep your mouth’s humidity level as needed.
- Soybean and egg - Both are rich in protein. They help forming cells and flowing the blood.
- Carrot, celery, paprika - All clean and stimulate your gum. They’re rich in vitamin C which can generate collagen, a protein that supports the gums.
- Dark chocolate - It’s chemical substance can help avoiding plaque.
With me, it’s always fun and easy to be healthy. Not to mention, yummy!

Knowing the symptom of food allergy is quite necessary since 8% of children and 2% of adults in the United States are estimated to be affected by some form of allergy to food.
Six Steps To Recognizing A Food Allergy Symptom
By Allen Matthews
Before we take the six steps in recognizing a food allergy symptom, I should first point out that what you may believe to be a food allergy, may in fact simply be an intolerance to a food item.
It is often easy to confuse an intolerance to food with an allergy, so many people wrongly diagnose themselves with a food allergy, when their reaction is quite mild to a particular food stuff. (more…)

Every time I heard about this water-soluble vitamin in the B-complex group, my mind pictures a pregnant woman. As if the ones needing it are only those who are pregnant.
Such a wrong idea. It’s true that if you’re pregnant, you have to consume at least 600mcg of folic acid every day.
But, actually, whether you’re pregnant or not, you need to consume folic acid. How can you not? It helps your body make healthy new cells.
You know what? Folic acid deficiency may cause poor growth, graying hair, inflammation of the tongue, mouth ulcer, peptic ulcer, diarrhea and anemia.
So, get your folic acid right now. There are supplements containing folic acid. Yet you’d better be careful with the supplements. It would be a lot better if you get it from natural food such as:
- Peas and beans
- Broccoli and other dark green leafy vegetables
- Asparagus
- Citrus fruits and juices
- Wheat bran and other whole grains
- Poultry, pork, shellfish
- Liver
Also, check out food labels to find if they contain folic acid or not. If you find folate instead of folic acid in the food label, don’t worry, it’s the same thing.

Before I didn’t like Green Tea at all. But these days, since it’s known as a health booster, I kinda got addicted to it.
Sometimes I just stop by at Starbucks for the green tea frappucino or the green tea lemonade. Or I simply skipped to the pantry to get a cup of green tea mixed with something I like during the hectic afternoon for a green tea time.
They said that if brewed more than two minutes, it’ll get bitter. So far, my green tea always tastes good. So, does it mean that I never brew it too long? Or, it’s just me being so addicted to the healthful tea that it tastes good anyway?
Whichever, I feel good about my self for getting something healthful to replace my old addiction to caffeine. Yes, I was once a caffeine addict. But a few years back, I managed to reduce it. And, now, I’m addicted to something healthy and something I don’t have to feel guilty of. Isn’t it great?
Well, some are not so fond of green tea like Girlsgonechild. But she still drinks it everyday anyway.
Some even adore it and make it into an ice cream. Yum! Get the recipe for green tea ice cream here. Too bad, I’ll be totally busy this weekend to try it. Yet, in between my activities, I’ll try to look for a ready-to-eat one.
Have a fabulous weekend!

Peach, originated in China, is known to have the ability to bestow immortality, as mentioned in the Chinese legend.
Well, it could be right in term of its ability to provide potassium for those who consume it. Per 100 grams of peach edible portion, you can get 197 mg of potassium.
Why would you need potassium? Along with sodium, it regulates the water balance and the acid-base balance in the blood and tissues. Increased potassium may increase the amount of sodium excreted from the body. So, by increasing potassium in the diet you can protect against hypertension, especially if you’re sensitive to high levels of sodium.
Anna made a delicious Peach Pie of which recipe she posted in her blog. She really recommends it.
Wish to try? I think I will.
